Cordillera De Los Andes
The Andes Mountain is an interesting biome. For example, the climate drastically changes not just in one part, but throughout the entire region. Anyone that lives in the country of Ecuador knows that there are tropical rainforest, but when traveling to Cotopaxi, a frosted peek can be seen on the mountain. The mountain is home to over 30,000 varieties of plants and 3,500 animals. In the past half-century the Andes have been subjected to excessive deforestation, poaching and ore mining. These practices have resulted in smaller habitats, less food and general environmental endangerment. Fortunately several wildlife preservation organizations are working hard to keep the land beautiful. Since before the region’s largest summit, Acongagua, was scaled the Andes Mountains have been a source of beauty and wonder for explores and natives alike for hundreds of years and its majesty will keep us fascinated for decades to come.
